Here’s a a fun one. Getting into “healthy” territory is so scary. Health looks different for everyone. This recipe is a way I enjoy hot cocoa without the excess sugar or intense sweetness.

Warning!! I like dark chocolate. If you don’t… might wanna skip this one.

I excel at flavor intensity. Hot cocoa’s no different. With only 4 ingredients this recipe can come together in the microwave, on a stovetop or however you want.

Here we go.

…oh and as always these ingredients do not have measurements. I’m too lazy to measure right now. Honestly, you’ll probably enjoy it more if you use your own unique proportions.

Finger lickin' good. Don't tho. You'll burn yourself.

Ingredients

  • Cocoa Powder

  • Monk Fruit Sweetener (liquid or granulated)

  • Unsweetened Almond Milk

  • Whipped Cream

  • Cinamon

Wait! After writing that out I see it’s 5 ingredients. It’s quick though, I promise.

  1. Combine Ingredients

  2. Heat

  3. Done

Yeah. That’s it. Maybe heat the milk and sweetener either in the microwave before adding the cocoa powder, but it’s totally up to you.

If I want a hot, thick, sweet, cup of hot cocoa and I need it NOW. Microwave is the answer. However, if I’m looking to perfect the recipe, out comes my stovetop saucepan.

Perfection.

First, heat the milk. Once boiling, in goes the sweetener of choice and vanilla extract. If using granulated sugar, I’ll let it dissolve. Then, I add in cocoa powder to taste, a tiny pinch of salt, potentially a bar of dark chocolate just to give it some oomph. Throw that in a mug, top with whipped cream and cinnamon. Now, that’s my perfect, hot cocoa. At least if I want it healthy.

Oh no. With vanilla, salt and dark chocolate, that’s 8 ingredients. You could use vanilla almond milk and make it 7 again?! Anyway, sorry for lying. It’s good tho. I promise.
